UAE Annual Leave Rules

  • First 5 years: 2 days of leave per month = 24 days per year
  • After 5 years: 2.5 days of leave per month = 30 days per year
  • Minimum employment: Leave entitlement starts after completing 6 months (pro-rated)
  • Maximum accumulation: Generally limited to 2 years of leave

Important Points:

  • Annual leave includes Fridays (or designated rest day)
  • Official public holidays are not counted as annual leave
  • Unused leave can be carried forward (subject to company policy and maximum limits)
  • Upon termination, unused leave must be paid out in cash
  • Leave days are calculated based on basic salary

Public Holidays in UAE (Not Counted as Annual Leave):

  • New Year's Day
  • Eid Al Fitr (3-4 days)
  • Arafat Day & Eid Al Adha (3-4 days)
  • Islamic New Year
  • Prophet Muhammad's Birthday
  • UAE National Day (December 2-3)

Leave Salary Calculation:

When leave is paid out in cash (upon termination or encashment), it's calculated as:
(Basic Salary ÷ 30) × Number of Leave Days
